9:30-11:15pm: Joints for Life: The Hip Anatomy, Common Issues and Solutions
Presented by Terry Kane
Take a deep dive into the intricacies of the hip joint in this workshop designed for fitness enthusiasts, physical therapists, and anyone eager to improve their understanding of hip health. Gain a clear understanding of the hip joint’s structure, including its bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Explore how these components work together to support movement and stability. Learn about prevalent hip problems such as hip impingement, bursitis, arthritis, and labral tears. Understand their causes, symptoms, and how they impact mobility and daily activities. Learn strategies to prevent hip issues and maintain long-term joint health through lifestyle adjustments and targeted exercises.
11:30- 12:45pm: Reformat: Pilates Core Training
Presented by Helen Vanderburg
Take Pilates Reformer exercises and translate them to the Mat. Elastic bands and foam rollers become our Reformer in a fun and challenging workout for your mat students. Taking the principles of each Reformer exercise, transfer exercise to the mat and see how it changes the essential nature of the exercise. Deepen your understanding of both Pilates mat and Reformer exercises and open your mind to new possibilities and creative variations of the Pilates repertoire. Introduce Pilates Reformer work to your clients in an easy and accessible way.

1:15-2:30pm: Be Like Aunt Judy: Active Aging Through Physical Activity
Presented by Jodie Boettger
With a nod to my 83-year-old very active Aunt Judy (in many minds a local Calgary legend) this lecture, and mini-workout will take a holistic look at aging trends and the benefits of physical activity for older adults, including physical, mental, and social advantages. Age-related physical changes will be outlined and exercise guidelines, including aerobic, strength, flexibility and balance exercises will be discussed. Breathwork to maintain or improve lung capacity will be reviewed. Common concerns like fear of injury, motivation and managing chronic conditions will also be covered, offering strategies to support older adults in staying active. Includes a mini workout demonstrating how to integrate these strategies into your classes and training sessions.
2:45-4:00pm: All Balls: Strength and Stability
Presented by Judi Rich
In addition to the joy of playing with toys, pulling out the various stability equipment on the floor, in this case, the balls, is a great and effective way to target core, strength and even mobility. In this workout, we will unleash the Stability Ball, Bender Ball, and BOSU Trainer to explore various ways to incorporate these into a workout. Using any one of these pieces of portable equipment demands a muscular response to keep one's center of gravity. This stimulates the deeper trunk muscles (multifidus and transverse abdominus) that are important in supporting the spine and reduces static loading on any one structure in the spine.
4:15-5:30pm: Flexibility: Theory, Types, Techniques & Tools
Presented by Dianne Lyle
Discover the science behind flexibility training and join me in experiencing a variety of ways to stretch in your own bodies! In this workshop, we’ll discuss the science, the overall benefits of stretching and cover the different techniques and tools you can use to help your clients make the most of their flexibility training. Experience different techniques for yourself and walk away with a practical handout that you can use to help you immediately put what you’ve learned into practice. One technique does not fit all, so having a good repertoire in your toolbox will assist you in your recommendations so that your clients get the most out of their stretch time.

PTS Certification Course
Thank you for everything you all did to help me obtain my Personal Training Specialist. I felt completely supported through the whole process. During the online course there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The three trainers all shared their contact information and encouraged us to reach out if we had questions. I did have some questions and received quick responses back.
I enjoyed the format of having the training over two weekends. Having the week in between gave me some time to focus on the information we learned in the first day and make some study notes for that section before moving on to the next sections in the following weekend. It also allowed some time to do the homework without feeling pressured to get it done right after a full day of training.
I felt really supported in preparing for the exams and knew what to expect. I am sure that I did so well because I was given clear instructions. Thank you Jodie, Eldridge and Karyn for everything! Woo hoo! I'm a certified PTS!!!!

PTS Certification Course
I took the personal training specialist program with Jodie. I really enjoyed her course because she was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the course. I took my personal training course 10 years ago in Australia and decided I needed a refresher. I’m very glad I did because I learned so much more through this course than I did in my previous.

I have known Jodie for many years working for the same company at GYMVMT. I have always felt drawn to Jodie as a person and instructer as do many. I first met Jodie at the canfitpro seminars as a speaker and then on in other courses throughout the years. Most recently in the last 2 years at CPR courses.
I truly enjoy Jodie's CPR courses. I always appreciate her energy and enthusiasm when she teaches. She is personable, funny and interactive and can really tell she is happy to be there to teach. Exam Prep
I took Jodie’s CanFit Pro PTS certification course in November 2020. It was a great experience! The 9 hour sessions on zoom were a bit much. Not because Jodie and her team didn’t make it interesting, but because 9 hours is a lot for me to pay attention to one thing. However I learned a lot and really appreciated her point of view and the way she related the material to real life. Due to life issues I was unable to take my exam until almost a year later. I was a nervous wreck trying to go over all the material! I also was never one to do well in written tests. I felt I knew the material but I was just lost! Luckily Jodie reached out and offered her tutoring services. Money well spent! She got me back on track and back in the right mind set. I felt so prepared I wish I could have done it a few weeks early, but scheduling made it difficult. Thank you so much Jodie! I couldn’t have done it without you!
